Beaver Creek Institution Minimum Security is a federal minimum-security correctional facility located in Gravenhurst, Ontario, in the Muskoka region. Beaver Creek Institution first opened in 1961, making the original institution approximately 65 years old in 2026. The minimum-security site has a rated capacity of 201 inmates. It houses federally sentenced men who have been classified as suitable for minimum-security supervision. The facility uses a residential-style design with small group accommodation houses and provides correctional programs, employment, education, health services, and rehabilitation opportunities.

Do I need to be on an incarcerated person's visitor list?

Yes, visiting application form must be filled out.  If there are children visiting then a child waiver application must be filled out for the child as well.

All visits must be booked at least 48 hours in advance by the prisoner

  • Length of visit: Varies
  • Number of visits per week:  Visitors can pick between Monday or Wednesday visits and Saturday or Sunday Visits during the week 
  • Number of visitors per visit: Visits must arrive before 10:00AM.  They can be admitted again before 12:30PM and no later than 2:00PM.  On Thursdays visitors must arrive no later than 7:00PM. Upto 4 adults and unlimited children can visit at a time.
  • Money drop-off: Visitors can bring cash, money orders or cheques for their loved ones
