Kent Institution is the only maximum security institution in British Columbia.  Built in 1979 Kent Institution houses 378 adult male inmates serving Federal sentences.  

How can I receive collect calls from Kent Institution?

FedPhoneLine provides a phone number that your incarcerated friend or loved one can call. The call is then connected to the phone number associated with your FedPhoneLine account (your homephone or cellphone).

How does FedPhoneLine work?

  1. Create your FedPhoneLine account.
  2. Select the appropriate Dorchester Institution calling plan.
  3. After you register, FedPhoneLine will provide your FedPhoneLine number and password by email.
  4. Give your FedPhoneLine number to your incarcerated friend or family member. Depending on the institution, the FedPhoneLine number may be active immediately or the number will need to be approved by the Institution first.
  5. Your incarcerated friend or family member calls the FedPhoneLine number, and the call rings on your phone.
  6. Select the GREEN button above to sign up for a FedPhoneLine number.

Can I receive collect calls from Kent Institution?

If your incarcerated friend or loved one is transferred to another facility, you can switch your FedPhoneLine number to the new facility. FedPhoneLine allows you to make this change for free.

Do I need to be on an incarcerated person's visitor list?

Yes, a visiting application form must be filled out.  If there are children visiting Kent Institution, then a child waiver application must be filled out for the child as well.
